B-17 Flight Experience
Request form attached
We have a unique opportunity available to the members of the 487th Bomb Group Association this year. William Sheriff, one of our members, has made the amazingly generous and unprecedented offer to sponsor a B-17 owned by the Yankee Air Force, "Yankee Lady," to be in Kalamazoo and give rides to the members of our Association, from Wednesday, July 23 through Saturday, July 26th. (It will probably be parked at the Air Zoo.) The first 90 WW II veteran members of our organization (who were members as of the date that this mailing) to register will receive free rides; anyone else who wants a ride, be they veterans or families and friends of the 487th BG Association, may obtain a ride at the regular rate of $425 per person.
One "Yankee Air Museum Flight Experience Request" form per person wishing to ride must be completed and returned to John Barnes.
Do not send your payment to John Barnes;
payment arrangements will be taken care of by and through the Yankee Air Museum. The first 90 veteran members' registrations received by John Barnes will qualify for the free rides. We have enclosed the Yankee Air Museum's form for your use (
Click here to see a form you can print off); if you need more than one, make copies. If you have any questions, please call John Barnes at (269) 273-2327.
(p.s. Bill Sheriff is interested in meeting with any of you veterans who knew his dad, Cyril "Bert" Sheriff, 2nd Lt., a B-17 navigator from Oklahoma, whom was in Lavenham in spring, 1945.)
